Attendance

Frequent absence can add up to a considerable amount of lost learning and can seriously disadvantage your child in adult life.

Whilst we recognise that children can get ill from time to time if your child's attendance falls below 92% you will be made aware in writing. Should your child's attendance fall below 90% they will be classed as persistent absentee. It is at this point which we will invite parents into school to discuss our concerns and agree an action plan to improve attendance. We may share our concerns with the Education Welfare Officer.

If the school office has not been contacted for the reason for your child's absence, the school office will telephone the first contact for the reason for the absence. Should school staff have no response, they will then follow safeguarding procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the child. This will include:

  • Telephone calls to Parents

  • Telephone calls to other emergency contacts

  • Home visits

  • Referrals to the Education Welfare Officer

  • Referrals to the Police for a safe and well check

Please see below a summary of our procedures to help us safeguard your child.

Attendance is monitored regularly across the Federation.
